7/11/2010 News flash!
Jeff McGrane wins the overall at the ETJC Omnium in Bristol! Jeff took 2nd in the RR, and followed that up with a 4th in the Time Trial and a 6th in the criterium.
Hart rounded out the top two with 2nd in the Overall, 2nd in the Time Trial and 2nd in the Criterium.

Great Job guys! And Congrats to "No-Pain McGrane" on his overall victory!

Hart takes a triple win in Memphis at the Smith and Nephew Gran Prix:
Hart won the Time Trial, the Criterium and the Overall!

Congrats to Travis Werts over at Sonic Tree-House Racing. Travis won the Road Race.

Travis is the Sugoi clothing rep and the team would like to thank him for setting us up with great clothing that kept us cool in 100 degree Memphis heat--Sugoi clothing won every Pro 1,2 event this weekend!

Also the team would not have any wins to speak of if not for the expertise of Hunter Allen and Stephen McGregor of the Peaks Coaching Group. If you want to be fast and you are not afraid of a little hard work, then call these guys.

Harper's to the Rescue

This was a particularly wet winter in TN and our riders rode out in the rain and sleet everyday.

This took an extra toll on our equipment, and by late May, Hart had worn out his big chain ring—a fact he realized only 36 hours before the State Championship Criterium. With little time to spare Harper’s Bike Shop had a newly installed a new drive train in place on Hart’s bike; they’d even given the frame a full wash and polish treatment.

That kind of expert service led directly to Hart’s State Championship win. After Chris at Harper’s applied his careful work on Hart’s bike, Hart knew he could trust his bike when it came time to mash the pedals. Thanks to all the expert mechanics at Harpers! And thank you for taking a chance sponsoring a new team!

Swecker wins big at Athens Twilight!

Stefan Swecker wins the Athens Twilight Morning 1,2 qualifer race and wins the 20 lap Night Finals Race! Congrats to Stefan for a tremendous weekend (he placed 5th and Crowson was 10th at Roswell the next day). Way to represent the team guys!

FGS Signs Elite Triathlete Bryan Parker for the 2010 Season!

FGS Cycling is proud to announce the signing of Bryan Parker, a former hockey player, turned elite triathlete. Since trading in his skates for multisport, Parker has won the overalls of several triathlons in addition to many more age group wins. We are proud to have this Iron Man sporting our team kit.

DeFeet Custom Sock Sneak Peak

Here it is--a sneak peak of our custom DeFeet team socks! The team's surplus socks will go on sale in the ProShop once our riders have been outfitted.

Thanks to Brad at DeFeet for designing this great product.

The "Friends of the Great Smoky Mountains" text will be on the rear calf of the sock, and the logo (which is split in half for the purpose of the proof) will be centered on the front of the sock. These socks will be the high top 5 inch cuff--DeFeet is bringing that "Euro-cool style" to our side of the pond with these High Top Air-e-ator Socks. The 5 inch cuffs are great for trapping the internal zipper on many brands of areodynamic shoe covers. The higher cuff keeps the zipper from digging into your calf and it holds the zipper steady so it can't slide loose.

Some of you have already emailed to ask: "Why is the logo on the rear of the sock? " We figured that after you win our Peaks Coaching Contest and one of Hunter Allen's Peaks Coaches puts you through the training plan of your life, that we'd want our logos on the rear of that team kit of ours that you will be wearing. Indeed, from behind is the perspective from which the rest of the peleton will be reading your logos when you are off the front!
